'Crying Lightning' will receive it's worldwide, exclusive first radio play on Monday 6th July on Zane Lowe's Radio 1 show. The single will then be available digitally via iTunes from midnight that night. Physical versions of 'Crying Lightning' will be available on the 17th August. More details to follow.[/url]

The Arctic Monkeys new album will be called Humbug. It's a term which means "Hoax" or to "Jest". Maybe the band like the thought of a funny album.

Arctic Monkeys are pleased to announce the title for the third album shall be 'Humbug'. The third studio album by the band shall be released on Monday 24th August in the UK.

The band have finally announced a release date and track listing for the new album.

It is expected to be released August 24th, according to NME, It's a fancy promotional date considering it coincides with Leeds and Reading. Nice work lads.

The album's track listing is said to be:

OK, OK, so the albums not out quite yet but I've just started taking off the wrappers for the new website. It's completely new and some pages have moved/been deleted while others have been revamped and updated. The forums not completely finished yet but it will be within the next week. I hope you all like it, it's took a lot of effort over the past couple days.

The new updates also mean you have have more of a say on the Arctic Monkeys. All the most recent flickr images featuring the Arctic Monkeys tag will be shown on the website while all you twitter users out there talking about the band will see your message at the top of the website! You can also use the new "one word" feature which resides on every page too.

Any feature requests or problems with the site, make sure you air them.

The band are appearing in a studio interview in this weeks *cough* N *cough* M *cough* E (plug over) and it appears the album is actually more or less finished.

According to the magazine:

In a world exclusive, we take a special trip to New York City and spend 24 hours locked-up in the studio with Arctic Monkeys to witness the making of their third album.

Nice, but check out the image (Tom Oxley), since when did Arctic Monkeys have a hippie (far right) and an old man in the band (far left). Weird.

Hopefully the album will be out before the end of the year (yikes!).

We've been a bit behind on the latest videos from Matt. As most of you know (99% a good figure?) Matt has been posting regular (almost weekly) updates via YouTube video and we have just not been posting them. Any how, the latest one to celebrate Matt's birthday is below.

The band have spoken to the media and have stated that the album has finished the recording process.
Speaking to Drowned In Sound Matt Helders said:

"It's all recorded now, yeah. We're about halfway through mixing it at the moment. I'm not sure about a release date, it'll probably be sometime in August before Leeds and Reading. Nothing's definite, though, it all depends on when we do the artwork and pick a title. And we've not finalised the tracklisting yet, we're mixing quite a few and then narrowing it down - so it also depends on how long we take doing that. We'll probably do it in the next week or so, sort it all out."

Good news! There is also news of Alex Turners notebook being stolen. Speaking to NME.com Alex said:

"I got my bag robbed six months ago, I lost this notebook, I lost loads. It was in this brown book with a picture of a fox on it."

Whoever stole the book, shame on you! And if you have it, can we steal it from you?

The band have been confirmed to be attending the famous Leeds and Reading festival 2009.

They are set to headline Friday night at Leeds and then head off straight down the M1 to Reading headlining Saturday.

Looks like this could be the big bang after the album release, which there is still no confirmation or news on.
