Bands should never release the last song on their album as a single.

It's usually the song with the most depth, and one of (if not the) best.
Not one of you has got an ounce of style in ya.

They played 505 and Teddy Picker on Jools Holland.

Which might hint that they're future singles...
Go ahead and play the blues if it makes you happy.

hmmmm, not so sure there. why not release your best material? libertines done it twice. and there the best band of the 00's. oasis done it on the second album, and gave the world one of the finest songs ever. i have not got my cd collection on hand, but i reckon there is a whole bunch of other albums with a single as the last song and have gone on to do really well.

I'd agree with that if it was aimed towards the Arctic Monkeys and the Arctic Monkeys alone.
Reason being that on both albums, both final tracks should not be released ever. It's not the kind of song to release and that your statement explains why.

That doesn't make sense to me. I think A Certain Romance would have worked brilliantly as a single...

It probably would have worked well as a single but to be honest, if it had been released it would have dissapointed me. Reason being it feels like it should be left on the album as a finisher.

505 is the last song, that should be released as a single. It's too deep and too sentimental to be a single, however it's the best one on the whole album.
