READING FESTIVAL-THE AFTERMTAH AND REVIEW

Postby surrey_casual » Mon Aug 28, 2006 7:56 pm

the weekend on the whole was insane. never thought it would turn out like it did. there was many moments during the festival that will stay with me forever, firstly the 'bollox' chant and 'ring of fire' tune sung nearly every night. great atmosphere with great neighbours who had plently of weed to share. having lightsaber wars at 4 in the morning, narrow boat lifts to and from the site and 10 minute crowdsurfs, reading had it all

anyway the bands

arctic monkeys- performed really well, i was about 3/4 the way back, and the crowd was bouncing up and down like bunnies going berserk miles back all around me, a really good turn out from the crowd. started off with IBTYLGOTD which was cool as i havent heard that as the starting song for a while. all the crowd knew the words, and i was so impressed with '21 seconds tut tut tut' intro matt done at the start of most songs. very classy! i then decided to crowd surf and got about 10 metres before being dropped horribly on the floor. but was not my highlight of the festival!! 10/10

muse- sooooooooooooo good live, recommend anyone to see these when they play near you. excellent. 9/10

streets- done a cover of IBTYLGOTD but changed the lyrics to ....a dance tent, which went down well. 8/10

bromheads jacket- reading experienced a were you there moment when tim finished the gig by smashing up his giutar then the drumkit, then jumped into the crowd, got held back by security, but the fans pulled him over the barrier, and about 200 fans carried him out and walked around the surronding area chanting 'bromheads....bromheads'. superb, even that wasnt the highlight. kicked the security guard in the face with a crowdsurf n all. lol. 10/10

little man tate- nice little mosh going on in there. very good 8/10

milburn- prob the best live band there the whole weekend, as me and my mates were singing along all you could hear was, 'there spot on' or 'brilliant band, whens the album out'. my mate who has never heard of them b4, also agreed at the end that they were the best band there, now thats summit. superb. 11/10

PEARL JAM- the highlight of the weekend, amazing band with dedicated fans. a must see band before they fade away. i exprienced a 10 minute crowdsurf getting thrown round in circles which was pretty cool, until they chucked you out of the arena. oops. but still an super cool band with 5 min guitar and drum solos. iiiiiiii

other good bands included, get cape wear cape fly, sunshine underground and dirty pretty things with a brilliant rendition of 'i get along'.............fuck em

now for the shit bands............

franz ferdinand- boring and dull
cribs- better on the album, what a mess
be your own pet- one shit noise the whole way thru a song. left after 2 songs
automatic- and the point of this band is?
futureheads very dissapointed.

and finally the transveseit singing to 'hit me baby one more time' who got pelted by about 100 bottles and cans!!! quality.

fuck leeds, reading baby!!!!!!!!

Either Reading or Glasto.

Best thing about camping is drunk people trying to sing Oasis songs, its always oasis songs. When they start singing Supersonic and say I'm feeling supersonic, give me supersonic, you can tell their pissed. Boy is it great. Top tip for camping, never put a padlock on your tent, the reason, someone see's a padlock they assume theres something to hide and cut you tent open.
