Which Album Is Better?

Postby Rhododendron » Tue Apr 24, 2007 10:57 pm

Since FWN is now here and we're playing it on repeat non-stop, which do you think is better?
For me... no vote, yet. I'm giving it time...
Go ahead and play the blues if it makes you happy.

After listening to it for a few weeks, FWN is a good 2nd album but it couldnt be compared to the first album. The first album does not sound direct from the studio, it sounds more raw and fresh and 'live' whereas the 2nd album sounds kind of synthesized.

i´ll stick with the 1st...
could i be the great expectations we had towards the second? i don´t know..

fact is i could listen the 1st album non stop, round and round and roooound but with this one....maybe i havent got into some of the songs, maybe itll take me a bit to get used to, but some songs just dont get through.

but we´re talking in comparison...

of COURSE the 2 albums are GREAT!

but let´s face it.....trying to make an even better record than the first one is a theme for Mission Impossible! :)

Younger listeners seem to be preferring the old album (which I understand, it's lighter and more child friendly) and the new album has attracted a more mature audience in general.

Personally I'd say FWN is like 50% better than WPSIA, maybe thats because this is a new album or maybe that's just because they sound meaner, which is more my kind of music.

So far, I've listened twice to the new album. Fave song would .be 505.

I voted for the first, cos when I first heard it, i dunno it "hit" me much more harder than this one. I loved the fact that they sometimes broke the beat of the tune to change to another, arrangments like that - i love that.

I would say FWN now, but I feel that I have to calm down a little, before final decision. The new album hit me like thunderstorm, I'm still amazed, suprised...

FWN is more dangerous but no tracks on it are better than A Certain Romance.

I am glued to the new one though atm!

I doubt I'll ever get bored of both of them though ^_^

yeah that' s what i wanted to say...
i only have it for 5 days so i can' t have a proper opinion yet but it lacks a key track... something that hits you... it's a very good album, but you can' t help thinking of the first one... and what i forget about WPSIATIWIAN, i see how bold FWN is ^^

They're both as good as each other, unique in their own way. I like how they've changed and become more polished... however I also love their raw sound of the first. It's a tie for me.

i still find all tracks equal when played live! its just the recording methods that made it sound different.

plus i realised that the tabs are more simple on fwn. matts drummin sequence isnt as complex as on wpsiatwin. guess they want people to play their songs too.
