Another twist in the tale of the death ramps has surfaced lately. Involving a domain name** now.
www.deathramps.com
You maybe wondering where there is a place for this on an Arctic Monkeys website. So we will explain vaguely...
The band announced in <a href='http://www.arctic-monkeys.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2048' target='_blank'>October</a> they were to release <b>Teddy Picker</b> as the third single from Favourite Worst Nightmare.
The band <a href='http://www.arctic-monkeys.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2079' target='_blank'>then announced</a> they were to release the single with the B-Sides <b>Death Ramps</b> and the Nettles (previously played live).
Domino <a href='http://www.arctic-monkeys.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2104' target='_blank'>then announced</a> that a band (signed under their label) named <b>Death Ramps</b> were to release a <a href='http://www.arctic-monkeys.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2104' target='_blank'>new limited edition</a> single (250 copies) on <a href='http://www.dominorecordco.com/site/index.php?page=releases&releaseID=747' target='_blank'>white label vinyl</a> along with a b-side named Nettles. They did not announce who the band were just <a href='http://www.arctic-monkeys.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2104' target='_blank'>listed a clue</a>.
The band on the vinyl turned out to be the Arctic Monkeys in disguise.
<b>deathramps.com</b> and <b>deathramps.co.uk</b> were registered on the 27th September 2007 and their homepages simply features a poem (see below) written by Alex Turner.
From what we can tell it's written by Alex Turner (it is his handwriting) and reads:
<blockquote>AFTER THE FANFARE
STOPPED GUSHING
AND THE HORNS (WHERE*)WERE PACKED
AWAY IN CASES *CASED IN
FINGER MARKED DUST
AND
THE FLAGS LAY SCRUNCHED
HAVING TURNED (THERE*)THEIR BASICS
ON THE BREEZE
AROUSAL DRIPPED IN THE SHAPE OF
TEARS, (BEGGING IN*)
CONGREGATING IN A LUMPY
PUDDLE THAT BEGGED
YOU TO DIP YOUR
SPOON!
*SPELLING MISTAKE/CORRECTION</blockquote>
So, the plot thickens and rumours continue to circulate about potential secret gigs under the name.
